With more than 1,100 employees, Fraunhofer IIS is the largest institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. A specialist in user-centered design of virtual technologies and the measurement of human factor related criteria of the experience level.

The 35-member team from the fields of psychology, sociology, engineering and computer science conducts research on the design of innovative interactive technologies in the field of virtual/augmented reality, among others, with a special focus on motion capturing, tactile feedback, gesture and gaze control. The professorship is specialized in user-centered design. The focus is on evaluating constructs of experience, such as user experience, acceptance, immersion and presence, comfort, trust, and emotional criteria. For this purpose, a comprehensive laboratory equipment including simulation technologies (VR/AR glasses, stereoscopic displays and projection surfaces, haptic
feedback) and measurement instruments (eye tracking, motion capturing and physiological measurement systems) is available.

Pointomega specializes in the development and implementation of intelligent acoustic production and system monitoring. One focus is on the field of speech and noise recognition. Since 2000, the company has been developing automated voice communication capabilities up to intelligent teleconferencing and acoustic event monitoring, such as the trainable audio analysis system SENTRY, which forms the basis for noise detection. This can be used to reduce acoustic interference in virtual rooms and isolate context-relevant acoustic events.
